New Feature: Featured Artists

Several bands have asked how us how they can use their Facebook applications to promote their friends’ bands or other bands they really like. In response, we’ve added a section to the bottom of each Band’s Facebook application where a Band can pick upto 10 bands that they want to promote. If you have a friend who has a band, but doesn’t have an ArtistExploder Facebook application, send me an email: johann [at] artistexploder [dot] com.

Facebook applications move to PHP

Over the next couple of days, we’ll be migrating all of our band’s Facebook applications from FLEX to PHP. This will greatly increase reliability and performance. We’ve also added a few features to keep in compliance with Facebook’s new rules like users have to opt in to receive notifications or to put a widget on their profile.

Let us know what you think of the new applications.

Now on EC2

Due to scaling concerns we’ve decided to switch our hosting to Amazon’s EC2. As we continue to grow, this will not only save us a lot of headache dealing with adding new web servers, but we expect this will also save us a lot of time.

Gospel Music Awards, here we come!

We’re really excited to announce that we’ll be promoting our new service for musical artists at the 2008 Gospel Music Awards’ “Music Week” in Nashville, Tennessee.

Its our first trip out to Nashville, so we’re really excited! Line dancing, country music, and bbq - who could ask for more!

During “Music Week”, Artist Exploder will be highlighting the success that “The Wrecking and their label, Chosen Records, have achieved by working with Artist Exploder.

The Wrecking is a really awesome band, with a quickly-growing fan base. In their own words:

“The Wrecking is defined by an unparalleled drive for what is deeper. Musically, emotionally, and spiritually this band communicates on a level that us undeniable. Commonly referred to as perfectionists in the obsessive pursuit of sonic excellence and explosive execution, The Wrecking has cultivated a truly unique sound that is readily accessible. Bi interlocking hook-driven rock with urban grooves and futuristic adventurism, The Wrecking has emerged from the East Coast music scene as a critically acclaimed powerhouse.”

We’ll let you all know how the GMAs are, and what we discover in Nashville!

1865

So, over here at Artist Exploder, we’re lucky enough to listen to a lot of great new artists.  An artist we’re particularly excited about is the newest addition to the Artist Exploder roster, 1865.

In 1865’s own words:

“1865, the combination of melodically aggressive production and thought provoking lyrical content. 1865 is a dynamic act who appeals to those who find the likes of Wu-Tang Clan, Del the Funky Homosapien, Ras Kass, Outkast, The Sex Pistols, and Cutis Mayfield. 1865’s musical awareness began to bloom at the early age of eight through the medium of alto saxophone. Throughout the years he has accumulated the ability to create music from just about any tangible instrument. With his humble approach and hyper concentration, these accumulations were displayed when 1865 released his first studio album, Dark Matter, in July of 2007.”

Artist Exploder is coming…

Artist Exploder is excited to announce that we’re launching a new service that will allow musical artists to virally promote their music and gain new fans on Facebook.

Our super cool, totally-proprietary technology allows artists’ biggest fans become their best promoters by giving them tools to easily recommend the artists’ music to their friends. Artist Exploder incentivizes artists’ fans to promote their music throughout Facebook.

Artist Exploder will be free for artists until they gain at least 20 fans.  After that, its going to be $49.95 per month.
